NHS Trust Payments

In late 2023, we began to hear from a number of organisations, that NHS Trusts were ‘slow to pay’, so we decided to ask them to provide their payment performance times via a Freedom of Information Act(FOI) request.

We received responses from just over 200 NHS Trusts across England.

We asked them for the average time taken to pay all supplier invoices in 2023 and the percentage of invoices paid late (not just internal NHS invoices). Their responses are below.

For the most part, the NHS Trusts report relatively fast payments to their suppliers with the exception of a small number of Trusts. Good Business Pays would be interested to hear from NHS suppliers if the figures below are what has been experienced.
