Bottomline
This is the fifth anniversary of our Fast Payer Awards, and I’m delighted to see the number of fast paying companies double in just one year. Our 2025 Awards are made possible through the support of our award headline sponsors: Intuit; Mastercard and Barclays.
This year I am delighted to say we have added Bottomline as a headline sponsor for our awards. It’s great to add another big name to our supporters and I would like to thank them all – we could not make this happen without their support.
How do companies qualify for the Fast Payer award?
The Fast Payer Awards & Accreditation are ONLY given to companies that have consistently paid their suppliers (on average) in 27 days or less and paid 95% or more of their invoices on time. This year, only around 10% of large companies achieve this. We obtain this data from the reports you supply to the Department of Business & Trade. You are leading the way for the UK’s large businesses and keeping your small suppliers in business. We would describe you as a true customer of choice.
Why does fast payment matter?
These companies, around 500 in all, are paying their suppliers fast and should be considered potential customers of choice! On announcing our winners this year, Tina McKenzie, Policy Chair of the Federation of Small Businesses said, “FSB is pleased to welcome the latest findings from Good Business Pays. Large firms that have strived to speed up payments into the accounts of their small business suppliers deserve praise, and we hope small businesses vote with their feet towards these when looking for their next contract.”
From January 1st 2026, all big companies in the UK will have to publish their payment practices in their annual reports and I also hope all these winning companies will share this achievement with their shareholders as they look to include these results in their directors report. There is growing recognition that paying suppliers both fairly and fast is good business practice and delivers business results and growth. However, we still only see 10% of big companies that qualify as Fast Payers, and we also see the growing divide between those that choose to pay fast and those that do the opposite. I would advise the most innovative and ambitious small businesses to look at our list of Fast Payers as potential growth partners. The best will want to work with those who understand what good business partnering means – and that starts with fast and fair payment practices.
Terry Corby, Founder & CEO, Good Business Pays CIC
We are delighted to recognise the following companies as current recipients of the Fast Payer Awards for 2025.
We define a Fast Payer as a business that pays suppliers in less than 27 days (on average) AND who also pay over 95% or more of their invoices on time, over a rolling 12 month period.

“Late payments aren’t just bad for suppliers – they’re a concern for investors too. Poor payment practices can increase a company’s operating costs and damage goodwill amongst their suppliers and customers, as well as potentially signalling wider governance and financial health concerns. This is why Railpen takes this issue seriously. As active stewards of capital, and one of the UK’s largest scheme investors, we see fair and fast payment practices as integral to the long-term financial performance of the companies we invest in. To support our engagement on this material issue, we also took the step a few years ago of embedding expectations around timely supplier payments into our Global Voting Policy. We always try to practise what we preach. Thanks to the excellent work of our Finance and Procurement teams, we’re delighted to be recognised again this year as a Fast Payer, reflecting our commitment to these principles both in our own right, and as a major investor in UK companies.”
Caroline Escott, Head of Investment Stewardship and Co-Head of Sustainable Ownership, Railpen

With nearly a hundred thousand SMEs using our business bank accounts every day, we understand only too well how for business owners, contractors and the self-employed, late payments can be disruptive, stressful and a drain on their time and energy. Providing fair and prompt payment should be the default position for larger organisations like ours, and while we’re delighted to get this recognition, we also acknowledge the role these awards play in highlighting an all-too-common frustration that entrepreneurs face.”
